Updating ViewCommander Edge

This guide applies to updating within version 10.01R2  and higher, this guide does not apply to upgrading (version 9.x -> 10.x). If you have an older Edge version and are looking to upgrade please call us

1. Enter Maintenance Mode

  • Open VCUtility–> “Writer Filter” tab–> “Enter Maintenance Mode”
  • NOTE: The Edge unit will now reboot itself into Maintenance Mode, wait until it reboots and then login to Windows

2. Uninstall Service

  • Open VCUtility–> “Services” tab –> “Uninstall Service”

3. Download and Install Update

  • Download the latest update to your D: Drive
  • Run the installer from the .zip file
  • Click next through the prompts **If prompted about overwriting files click “No to All”**
  • NOTE: Files saved on the D: drive will not be erased by the write filter, the write filter only applies to the C: drive

4. Run the Installer

  • NOTE: The VCUtility program might be open, please close it before running the install program
  • Run the program to perform the install (VC-NVR-Setup.exe)

5. Verify Installation

  • After installation has completed run ViewCommander
  • From the Options menu in the top left corner click ‘about’
  • Verify the new version and licenses

6. Install Service and Enable Protected Mode

  • Open VCUtility–> “Services” Tab–> “Install Service”
  • VCUtility–> “Writer Filter” Tab–> “Enable the write filter”
  • NOTE: The Edge unit will now reboot itself into Protected Mode, wait until it reboots and then login to Windows
