Migrate an Existing ViewCommander Install

Move without Configuration
This section will show you how to move your ViewCommander installation from one computer to another without copying the configuration files. This method is very similar to the fresh installation method.
- Move the USB Dongle from the Old System to the New System
- Install the same Version you are currently licensed for onto the New System
- Enter the permanent (non-expiring) license key using the licensing tab in the VCUtility (you should have this license key on file)
- Launch ViewCommander
- After successfully launching ViewCommander for the first time, use the VCUtility to install the Service. Click Here to see a video on how to install ViewCommander as a Service
Move with Configuration (cameras, system settings, etc)
This section will show you how to move your ViewCommander installation from one computer to another while keeping the current ViewCommander configuration, this typically includes system settings, cameras, users, sensors, etc.
- Move the USB Dongle from the Old System to the New System
- Install the same Version you are currently licensed for onto the New System
- Enter the permanent (non-expiring) license key using the licensing tab in the VCUtility (you should have this license key on file)
- Launch ViewCommander to verify it was installed correctly
- Close ViewCommander
- Copy your configuration folder from your old computer found in: C:\ProgramData\ViewCommander\config onto a external drive
- On the New Computer, move this configuration folder from the external drive into the new server’s C:\ProgramData\ViewCommander
- Launch ViewCommander again to make sure settings were copied
- After successfully launching ViewCommander for the first time, use the VCUtility to install the Service. Click Here to see a video on how to install ViewCommander as a Service
